I attended my first HAI workshop in 1999. I immediately felt this was an environment and group of people that I wanted to be with. The word that struck me at the time was respect – people were sharing and listening in a respectful way, and when it came to exercises involving touch, that was done respectfully also. So I quickly signed up for Level 2, where I met my wife, so we have done our HAI journey together, being on team, organising community events, and generally supporting the workshop producers. As a “numbers man” I’ve often helped with managing the finances of HAI UK and still have that role today, since becoming a Trustee (and Company Secretary) a couple of years ago. If that all sounds too serious then I also have a lot of fun and love the chance to connect with others deeply whether within the Room of Love, or outside it.
I attended my first HAI workshop in 2009 and was impressed with how professionally done it was and that impression has continued at every HAI workshop I have attended. Being part of the HAI community has given me a sense of belonging and I made some very close friends. In 2013 I offered my services as a Trustee to help with the production of HAI workshops in the UK, and contribute to its continuity.
I came to HAI almost 9 years ago and I have really gained so much from these workshops. I have grown in so many ways and feel so much more comfortable in my own skin. I wanted to give something back to the work and to the UK community, so I decided to help out assisting at the workshops and by joining the trustee team of HAI UK. It gives me great pleasure to use my charity and project management skills to support this valuable work.
